Sleepless in toronto

last week was pretty whacked: i think i averaged around 2/3 hrs a weeknite, all thanks to projects and assignments, especially english lit. ugh...i think i've said this before somewhere, but if i'd ever gone 24 hrs without a single moment of sleep, i'd pretty much go crazy...aside from the insomnia, my eyes would have those huge black rings. i'd be looking like gaara from naruto. and sadly enough, the use of caffeine to help me stay awake proves useless, not to mention i've only won like 2 free donuts from timmy's after...what, like 20 cups of coffee? argh...i never get the better prizes (cash/plasma tv theatre system/car), but for sure, these kinds of contest are always rigged one way or another. anyways, some good news: the car's finally fixed...after like 4 months. sigh, we could've just bought a new car instead of keeping the rotting corolla during those 4 months, but noooo....now maintenance's cost us $900 to get it done; in my opinion, a waste of cash for something more purposeful...

nice game lacrosse. i had no idea so many ppl would actually go see it down at ACC and see the toronto rock (17000 to be exact). of course, its not as popular around the asian community, cuz aside from us, there were hardly any other asians around, give or take 5-10 others maybe. anyways, the game was pretty good: think something along the lines of hockey but with an emphasis on running with shoes instead of skates, sticks that throw the ball instead of hitting it, and a lot more brutal fights during huge arguments...we didnt see any though, but i can tell most of us were looking for a good fight to happen *hint hint

A feast for the masses...

well, i guess this is what you can similarily expect on sunday before endeavour fellowship, cuz i volunteered for lunch and such. but dont expect a magnitude of food like this, since this was a dinner for 8; sunday's gonna be around like 15, which is gonna be WAY more mouths to feed. but expect the food to be quite tasty...at least i think it will taste good...

"I thought you was dead..."

did this outta complete boredom sunday night after taking a 5-hr "nap". i call it Dead Tired, and i'm sure almost everyone is pretty much like that everyday cuz i'm no exception. ugh...i get less sleep now. think i average around 4-5 hrs/day now, not counting weekends tho. hmmm....come to the think of it, it looks like i'm more dead rather than dead tired...should've taken a better shot...

so anyways, i'm @ sheppard and warden waiting for the bus this morning and this middle-aged chinese woman comes up and asks me something in mandarin. 'course, i tried to "kinda" comprehend what the hell she was saying, but she talked a bit too fast and so i had to say "uh...i dont speak mandarin." tsk...man, did i feel really useless. i mean, its a duty for a chinese to help another chinese rite? even tho if there's a language barrier between us i should've @ least tried to say something like ni dung bu dung guangdong hua or wau bu jang guo yu...(1st one's "do you speak cantonese?"; 2nd one's "i dont speak mandarin"...i'm such a fob). anyways, i'll take some mandarin courses over the summer, you know, just to improve @ least a bit. since summer's gonna be long and i hav yet to find any work to do over that time, taking something "educational" would be nice...i think...

Girls love men who cook

dragonstea din tei...how can you ppl like that song?! ugh...and the "music video" jeff showed me was utterly disturbing *shudder*. well, at least 'europop' is a definite n-o for me. but still...how can you ppl like that song?!?!

anyways, tuesday nite was good...well, aside from the failed mac&cheese casserole. put too little milk in the recipe and the mac went really really dry. i just hope the guys didnt complain bout it...much haha. but at least the curry chicken made a good impression: you guys just went crazy over the entire bowl...should've made more rice too...not enough for curry this good haha. i should really cook for ppl a lot more, especially since mom was the one who helped me with most of the dishes: salad, chicken wings, curry chicken, beef with veggies. all 'cept the casserole; got the recipe off the net. and man, mom's got tons more recipes to teach me: chicken/beef bits in a creamy corn sauce, scrambled egg in fresh tomato sauce, some of her tong recipes as well for some good chinese drinks. take my word boys: learn how to cook for the ladies; its one helluva turn-on for them hehe

got to kitty's store in downtown with jeff. stupid kitty giving us near wrong directions: spadina and queen. it wasnt even near there! well, we eventually found...luckily perhaps. the store's pretty big and yet, i still hav no idea what kind of things the storeowners are really selling. there's so much random stuff: bed covers, fragrances, incense, beds, bedposts, masks, mirrors, lamps, and small stools shaped like a giant hand, with the palm of the hand is where the person sits on. i should've brought by cam along cuz it looks like the hand is grabbing someone's ass when they're sitting on the stool....hmmm......thats kinda perverse....
